In later stages, the enemies go straight to flashing after a Power Pellet is consumed, bypassing blue, which means that they can only be eaten for a short amount of time, although they still reverse direction when a Power Pellet is eaten. Blue enemies flash white to signal that they are about to return to their normal color and become dangerous again, and the length of time the enemies remain vulnerable varies from one stage to the next, generally becoming shorter as the game progresses. When an enemy is eaten, its eyes remain and return to the center ghost box where the ghost is regenerated in its normal color. The enemies turn deep blue, reverse direction and move away from Pac-Man, and usually move more slowly. Near the corners of the maze are four flashing Power Pellets that provide Pac-Man with a temporary ability to eat the ghosts and earn bonus points that way. The number of points needed for a bonus life can be changed to 15,000 or 20,000, or disabled altogether. The player will receive one extra life bonus after obtaining 10,000 points. The player begins with three lives, but DIP switches in the machine can change the number of starting lives to one, two, or five. When all lives have been lost, the game is over. If any of the ghosts eat Pac-Man, a life is lost. The four ghosts roam the maze and chase Pac-Man. Between some stages, one of three intermission animations plays. When all of the dots in a stage are eaten, that stage is completed, and the player will advance to the next one. The goal of the game is to accumulate as many points as possible by collecting dots, fruits, and eating blue ghosts, while normally avoiding the four ghosts. There is also a passageway from the left side of the screen to the right side, four Power Pellets spread out between quadrants, and fruits that appear in each level. The player navigates Pac-Man through a dead-end-less maze containing dots, known as Pac-Dots, and four multi-colored ghosts: Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde. Pac-Man is part of the collection of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., and New York's Museum of Modern Art. The Pac-Man franchise is one of the longest-running video game franchises from the golden age of arcade games. In 2010, the Google Doodle version was estimated to have been played by over 1 billion people worldwide.Īccording to the Davie-Brown Index, the Pac-Man character has the highest brand awareness of any video game character among American consumers, with 94% recognition. The namesake character has appeared in more than 30 officially licensed game spin-offs, not to mention bootleg versions. The game and subsequent entries in the series became a social phenomenon that crossed over to other media, such as the Pac-Man animated television series in 1982, and the top-ten Buckner and Garcia single "Pac-Man Fever" in 1981.ĭozens of similarly styled "maze games" appeared over the next several years, with some becoming successful in their own right. Adjusted for inflation, all versions of Pac-Man are estimated to have grossed over $12 billion in total revenue. Pac-man is one of the highest-grossing video games of all time, having generated more than $2.5 billion in quarters by the 1990s. There may have been a gender divide between gamers in different genres according to one estimate published in 1982, 60% of Pac-Man players were women, while 90% of those playing space shoot-'em-up Omega Race were men. Pac-Man established the conventions of the maze chase genre, and is considered to be one of the classics in video game history and an icon of 1980s popular culture. Licensed for distribution in the United States by Midway Games, it was released in October 1980, at a time when the top arcade games were "stark" space shooters such as Galaxian and Asteroids. Pac-Man (stylized in all capitals as PAC-MAN) is an arcade game designed by Toru Iwatani (1955–) of Namco, and released in Japan as PUCKMAN in May 1980.

To find a date that occurred a specified number of business days before a given date, supply the days as a negative number (with the minus sign). Here are a couple of formula examples to get a date that occurs exactly N business days from a certain date: To return a date that is a given number of working days ahead of or prior to the start date that you specify, use the WORKDAY function. Calculate N business days from/before date For now, let's just focus on practical uses. The detailed explanation of each function can be found here: How to calculate weekdays in Excel. Microsoft Excel provides 4 different functions to calculate weekdays. Optionally, add some text explaining what that number is: For this, enter your date in A4, and subtract the current date from it: Now, drag the formula rightwards and downwards until the last cells with data, and make sure it calculates the due dates in each column appropriately (please notice that the second reference changes for each column while the first reference is locked to column B):Īs an example, let's find the number of days since your last birthday. Please notice that we fix the column coordinate of the first reference and the row coordinate of the second refence with the $ sign so that the formula copies correctly to all other cells. Write the formula for the first cell that calculates the 1 st reminder date based on the order date in B3 and the number of days in C2: Expiration: 180 days from purchase date (E2).2 nd reminder: 120 days from purchase date (D2).1 st reminder: 90 days from purchase date (C2).You can even calculate a few intermediate dates for each subscription, all with a single formula! For this, insert a couple of new columns and indicate when each of the dates is due (please see the screenshot below): The relative reference (B2) forces the formula to change based on a relative position of each row: With the order date in B2, you enter the following formula in, say C2, and then copy the formula to the entire column by double-clicking the fill handle: Supposing you have a list of subscriptions that expire in 180 days after the purchase date. As an example, let's find 180 days from date. With this approach, you can easily calculate the expiry or dues dates for a whole column. With the target date in B3 and the number of days in B4, the formula is as simple as adding up two cells:Īs plain as it could possibly be, our formula works just perfectly in Excel: To get a more universal days from date formula, enter both values (source date and the numbers of days) in separate cells and reference those cells. I'd suggest using the default date format or convert a text-date to a serial number representing the date with DATEVALUE or explicitly specify year, month and day with the DATE function.įor example, here's how you can add days to April 1, 2018: The key point is to supply the date in the format that Excel understands. Date Picker - calculate days in drop-down calendar.Date and Time Wizard - quick way to calculate days in Excel.Calculate working days before or after date.Days since/until date counter (result is the number of days).Days from/before date calculator (result is a date). In this tutorial, you will find solutions to all these and a lot more tasks. Or you may be looking to count days from date to date. Or you may wish to get the number of days from a certain date until today. You may want to find a given number of days after date. However, this generic phrase can imply many different things. With our formulas you can quickly calculate 90 days from date, 45 days before date, and count whatever number of days you need.Ĭalculating days from date sounds like an easy task. PS I'm happy to choose another remuxing tool (windows based if possible) if XMedia-Recode has a known deficiency here. I see lots of posts talking about how you can import 'srt' files, etc, but my subtitles are already contained within the MKV file, so they aren't importable. mp4 file, and choose 'subtitle'/sub-track-Track 1 (English), I see just 'chapter (x)' in the place where subtitles should appear. If I do choose just one subtitle, and do the remux, then when I play the resulting. I don't actually NEED more than just the English subtitle in this case, so I don't specifically care that I can't add multiple, but the bigger issue is the problem that the subtitles aren't appearing in the output. The only options on the subtitle tab are Mode: "Render" and Codec: MOV text. First, import your files (including SRT) by dragging it to the main window. I can select one of these, then click the 'right arrow' to send it to the output side, but when I choose the second subtitle on the left, and click the 'right arrow', it REPLACES the item on the right, rather than adding to the list. Answer (1 of 5): Here’s how you can add subtitles that can be turned on manually (just like MKV) into a MP4 file using XMedia Recode. not support external subtitles so youll have to add them to the video before doing. In XMedia-Recode, I set video and audio to 'copy', and on the 'subtitle' tab, all the subtitles show on the left (eg, 1. The program we will use is the freeware XMedia Recode, which you can. This works great (the remux only takes seconds) and the video plays well in iTunes/on the Apple TV. I've used Xmedia-Recode to remux the MKV movies into MP4 movies (also tried MOV, same results). I rip the subtitles in such a way that they are selectable that is, I don't 'burn' them into the video I can turn them off/on at will and I believe the correct term is, they are an 'overlay'.īut now I have an Apple TV and want to play my movies on it, 'streaming' from iTunes on my MacBook. When I rip using Handbrake, I make sure to get all the subtitle tracks over, and they are fully functional in the MKV file when I play them in VLC, and in various other tools (including Western Digital LiveTV player). My partner is deaf and we rely heavily on subtitles. I have a huge library of movies originally ripped to MKV using Handbrake. Hello everyone - it's been a while since I was here! A good guidebook is World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War which both of us read with keen interest, especially the revelation that aquatic zombies walking on the ocean floor make island refuges untenable. Where we would go (desert island, boat, gun store, Home Depot, army base), what we would bring (the arsenal), and how it would probably go down. No, the parang should be strapped, upside down, in the middle of one’s back, ready for that last stand when your back is against the wall and the gun is going click-click-click.Īs we drove to college campuses or rowing regattas, our last fall together, what did my son and I talk about? Zombie strategies of course. And then there is the dreaded splatter-in-your-mouth infection possibilities. Anything manual, like swinging a parang at a zombie’s neck at close quarters is far too risky, especially if the sprinting, angry variety of zombies are involved. Think catapults or trenches filled with diesel fuel. I believe an effective zombie solution has to be non-ballistic, delivered automatically, and depend on easily renewable supplies. Converging on gun stores will lead to competition with other would-be zombie hunters, bikers, homicidal maniacs, and other human detritus and would doubtlessly cause a shoot-out that would waste all the bullets in the store because of competition to loot all the bullets in the store. I maintain that firearms, while effective in delivering a long-to-medium range headshot (I am told the only viable way to terminate a zombie is with a couple slugs “in the hat” as my mafia friends would say), lead to inevitable ammunition shortages and the ensuing need to occupy a gun store or WalMart during times of cemetery uprisings. Then dear Uncle Fester weighed in with his suggestion for the correct firearm for zombie control. The pellet gun has led to many hours of window replacement and glazing by yours truly, and has done nothing to dissuade the local herd of squirrels from digging up and snacking on next spring’s tulip bulbs. The parang purchase was followed by a pellet gun and a request to be allowed to take the firearms safety course so he could apply for a gun license (that request has not proceeded). Any annoyance I may have had over this unauthorized purchase was diminished when the exact same parang appeared in the AMC series, The Walking Dead, a sighting that sent him over the top with smugness. Now that he has figured out my Amazon account password, he decided it would be prudent to immediately order a Gerber “Bear Grylls Edition” Parang - think high-tech machete best suited for decapitation. Since, like bacon, zombies are the au courant American meme, my son is fixated on theoretical survival strategies. This phobia even extended to certain levels of Halo where the Master Chief is called upon to kill an infectious horde of parasitic people snatchers called The Flood and was so bad in his case that he refused to play the Flood levels for several years. Having been scared shitless in his childhood by the brilliant “28 Days Later” - which introduced the concept of sprinting zombies after years of the George Romero classic shamblers - he has had serious issues with zombie terror. The Zombie Hunter Samurai Sword is a fantastic weapon which allows you to slice through zombies in the style of a samurai warrior.A topic of significance for my nearly 18-year old son and me is the appropriate plan of action when dead people start shambling around biting people and turning them into more shambling dead people, aka zombies. Furthering this zombie theme, both the tsuba and scabbard display biohazard graphics, and the mekugi is shaped like a skull and crossbones. This long and slender blade features a black finish and is accented with simulated green zombie blood spatter to enhance its intimidating appearance. Employing the traditional katana design, this sword features a slightly curved blade with one cutting edge and a sharpened tip. This is a katana style sword that has been tailored to meet your zombie slaying needs. For those prefer the proactive route to ensuring their safety in the event of a zombie outbreak, we present the Zombie Hunter Samurai Sword. The encryption key is with the user and they can decrypt the file locally on their pc.LastPass servers do not have access to decrypted data, only encrypted data is sent to Lastpass servers. The data of Lastpass is encrypted and decrypted locally.Let’s look at both of them individually and understand what are their security features. Comparing the Security Features of Bitwarden and LastPassĪs mentioned above both Bitwarden and Lastpass have similar 256-AES encryption and also a 2-factor authentication which is essential when we are using password managers. Bitwarden’s password generator has the upper hand on Lastpass as the former lets you create passwords up to 128 characters long compared to the latter’s 99-character limit.īoth the tools are not far away from each other in the case of features, but Lastpass looks to be just better and user-friendly compared to Bitwarden.Bitwarden also has auto-fill features but according to the users, it is not as responsive as Lastpass’s auto-fill and auto-save features. These are some of the very few password managers providing this facility. Bitwarden also provides its users with the ability to store unlimited passwords just like Lastpass. Lastpass has made the instructions clearer. Bitwarden also supports importing your passwords from other password managers and browsers but it is not as easy as it could be.The auto-fill is also very responsive and helpful whenever you make a new account. The automatic password generator is responsive and has a lot of varieties. There is no limit to storing passwords in this password manager. Unlimited storage for passwords in LastPass. The instructions are pretty clear and you can follow them to easily import passwords from other browsers and password managers. Facility to import passwords into the vault without any hassle.Let’s dive into the features of both password managers one by one. Comparing Basic Features of Bitwarden and LastPassĪs we expected, there are similar features in both of them which are not that important in this comparison. Let us move on to the differences between both them and compare them based on different important features that a password manager should have. Since these password managers encrypt your password, it is easier to share your password with friends and family. Continuous testing of the network by using tools that would normally be used by a hacker. Password auditing is another feature similar to both of them. Both managers use 2-factor authentication for opening files on a different computer or from a different location, i.e you have to confirm the login from 2 devices rather than the traditional one-device password login. Current supercomputers should have a problem with breaking this encryption. This is the best kind of encryption method available right now in the market. So some of their top features are bound to be similar to each other. The two password managers are considered top-notch in the market. Similarities Between Bitwarden and LastPass Let’s go through the similarities in brief before we start comparing both of them in detail. There are some similarities as well as differences between Bitwarden and LastPass. These come with a free as well as a paid plan which is considered a cheap price for premium services in password managers. These have been determined as secure and robust. These password managers also have a vault feature to keep some of your private files safe.īitwarden and Lastpass have been highly praised by users as the best password managers on the market. You are probably lazy, or maybe you are forgetful to the point that you cannot remember so many passwords. It has always been the easier way to have the same passwords on all your accounts. Here’s where password managers like Bitwarden and Lastpass come into play. There has always been a risk of hackers stealing personal data or someone snooping through your stuff. Privacy and security for storing your data have always been a concern for people who use digital devices. |
